How come in Deutoronomy, divorce for a man at fault is a fine and divorce for a woman at fault is death?

Old Testament was very misogynistic. Then comes Christ who not only speaks to a Samaritan woman, he also tells her to "go and sin no more." And how about when the people WERE going to stone an adulterer and Christ said "He who among you is without sin may cast the first stone?"
