Can i give my horse corn/veggie oil to prevent colic?

My horse is 11 and has coliced twice in the past 6 weeks. The vet told us he suffured from impaction colic. We give him 3 flakes of soaked hay twice a day and his grain is mixed with wet bran mash and electrolites. If i give him oil will that help aswell? Will oil make him highly energetic, he is alittle wild as it is.
