Having band problems what should I do?!?

My band is having some problems with music. One wants to do hard metal kinda music but me & our guitarist likes softer music. For example, Kris Allen, All Time Low, etc. But he wants to be some hard rocker band. What should we do? Cause we're having trouble figuring this out on our own. Thanks :)
