Question about an Artist...THOM?

I have a painting of a boat, it's an older painting. The signiature just says THOM in capitol letters. I can't find anything about it, any ideas? I did find artists with the last name Thom but the signiatures are not the same. The painting is at least 40 years old, possibly more. Thank you!
