Need Help To Figure Out Dependant Varible and Independant Varible?

If i remember correctly, the dependant variable is the one YOU can alter and the independant is th one that varies when you alter the dependant variable. In this case i think the dependant variable is whether you put in starch suspension or glucose suspension.
