Need help answering questions on my 1987 Ford Bronco XLT 5.8 L?

unless you live in a state with vehicle inspections, i would fool with the pollution stuff. the gas mileage might be about all you get depending on driving habits and the transmission uming the carb is up to par. if you are smelling gas when idling, it's prolly too rich. there's screw on the bottom of the carb to adjust it without even removing it. should be a br flat head on the front bottom area. if that doesn't help, try rebuilding the carb.
